New Media Logging Feature to be Added to Standard Edition
(June 8, 2005)
We had slated the ability to log already-captured-to-disc media for the Professional
Edition, due to be released later this year. Demand for this feature, however, has
been strong enough that we've decided to implement it now and release it as a free
update to the Standard Edition.
The way we are implementing it is this; Instead of "Tapes" under each project, you
will have "Media". Media can be (at this time) a tape, a disc, or a file-on-disk.
Logging over firewire from a tape or disc will work as before. If you specify a
file-on-disk, you will simply choose that file when you go to log and will play and
capture just like you would from tape.
Current users of the Standard Edition will receive the update automatically when it is
posted later this month.
As always, your suggestions and comments on this new feature
are welcome.

World's First Narrative Database
|
You've shot a lot of video footage, and you're not going to
be able to keep it all in your head.
You can't afford the disc space to capture all
your tapes to disc, and even if you did there's really
nothing out there to help you make constructive sense
out of all that stuff you shot.
StoryLoom is tape logging software designed by a professional
editor that saves you time and money because
it allows you to quickly and efficiently build a
database not only of your media, but what you actually shot!!!
-

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words
Don't just search text...StoryLoom gives you
thumbnails, full-size screen caps and
short clip captures with each note you take,
giving you a visual tool to search with.
-
Color
Speaking of visual tools...if you have a need for a certain
mood or color quality, use our color search tool to find
those clips that have just the feeling you want.
-
Story Threads
The key to telling a story
in video is identifying the story elements. By
identifying "story threads" and assigning them to
your notes, you can easily gather the conceptual
building blocks of your project.
-
Attributes
Common pre-defined attributes
make your searches far more accurate by eliminating the
typing errors which can make meta-data searches
unreliable for large projects.
-
Designed by a Professional Editor
StoryLoom is the brainchild of a frustrated editor
who needed a logging tool that supported his
actual job, which is to tell an interesting story.
